Growing Event

Growing event by LIOH for our community land

This summer, Land In Our Hands our new nature and biodiversity group, plans to start a few projects in the community hub's garden', they have made a small start to a few projects in the community hub's window sills and garden, they are now looking to expand and need help from anyone who would like to volunteer some time to help out. You don't have to be an experienced gardener, or even know anything about gardening, just come along and learn along the way.

We are also looking for people to help with projects related to the garden that are not necessarily gardening, such as helping to build some benches and planters, decorating bird boxes, among many other fun things.

Some of our initial projects are going to be:

  • Building raised beds and planters to get some food growing

  • Making a rock garden

  • Building some benches for seating

  • Getting some polytunnels put up

  • Starting the groundwork for some biodiversity gardens

  • Planting our giant sunflower seeds and seedlings

  • Help plan the big lunch event in June

We will be having a tea/coffee meeting on Saturday, May 9th, for any volunteers to come down, get to know one another, ask any questions, talk about the plans for the garden and how people can help, and get some seeds planted!

We're excited to host this fun get-together focused on planting seeds—both literally and figuratively! This is all about branching out and building a strong community together. We want to create a healthy environment through organic projects that promote healthy eating and living. Everyone is welcome to join in and contribute to making our community vibrant and sustainable. Let’s come together to cultivate not just gardens, but connections that strengthen our community spirit!
