Annual events In May, we have Falkirk Writers Circle annual seminar, this is an event that sees professional and amateur writers from all over the country have their work judged Also, again this year the hub will be powering the flowers by following the No Mow May Campaign Monthly events We are a polling station on May 7, 2026, this coincides with our new monthly event launch, The Gathering Music event; however, your Hub is luckily a large community space, we can be a polling station and still have plenty of space, the only groups that cant use the hub that day are the line dancers and the highland dancers as they need the Muckle halls wooden floor, we will still hold plenty other events on that same day. National Emergency Briefing

Image
Screening of the Emergency Briefing A local opportunities to raise a question to election candidates. Sign up here Polmont Community Hub regularly hosts screenings of films related to environmental issues. Unfortunately, these events are not well attended, largely due to the lack of promotion from mainstream media. Many in our community view our sustainability development goals as doomerist and unrealistic. Overall, there is a reluctance among the populace to transition to low-carbon living, especially in this area, where we have long been taught to take pride in our industrial heritage. For the past 250 years, British industrialists launched much of the technology that fueled the global industrial revolution right from here, and as a result, this area tends to lean pro-industry.  Environmentalists are a minority locally, which is why it was essential for us to screen the Emergency Briefing. The hub demonstrates what can be achieved by embracing the transition towards low-ca...

Roond The Hooses

Round the hooses  Its only a mile from the hub to Grangemouth Sports Stadium. This stadium is an amazing local asset that nearly closed down, unlike the hub its still under threat of closure. It was similar to the Hub as regards its energy poverty; its energy performance rating was a huge expense for FDCouncil, as was the Hub's. This Scottish district council of Falkirk suffers from energy poverty,   on the 26th of April 2026 two of the Hub volunteers, and many members of polmont joggers Ran the 60th! round The House's running road race which starts and finniishs at  GrangeMouth Athletics Stadium, one of these volunteers grew up in grangemouth, He was born the same year the stadium was built - 1966 at that time Grangemouth was the most prosperous town in Europe, The energy industry was booming, There was workers coming from all over the country moving to Grasngemouth newtown, with the oil, gas, petrochemical and coal industry, Boomin there was well paid jobs aplenty....

You don't have to be an experienced gardener, or even know anything about gardening, just come along and learn along the way. We are also looking for people to help with projects related to the garden that are not necessarily gardening, such as helping to build some benches and planters, decorating bird boxes, among many other fun things. Some of our initial projects are going to be: Building raised beds and planters to get some food growing Making a rock garden Building some benches for seating Getting some polytunnels put up Starting the groundwork for some biodiversity gardens Planting our...

The Gathering

Music at the Hub  For months now, we have had a young band coming in to practice on Thursday nights. This band, called Polar Opposit, struggles with access to instruments and equipment, so we help them as much as we can, as they are continually growing and improving. We are looking to scale this help up very soon by among other things - starting a sharing library for musical instruments and equipment that our community can use. We have already begun this initiative. Several singers and guitarists have borrowed our speakers and mics, and we’ve also hosted choirs for practice. Additionally, there have been many parties and events where the organisers have asked to borrow equipment. Which we have always obliged in sharing what we have As we approached Soup Night, we hoped that the young band practicing on Thursdays would submit a project for funding to kickstart the sharing library. Unfortunately, they were too busy working on their playlist for their first-ever gig at Soup Nig...
