Apple day was perfect

lots of seeds planted at our community growing event!          (puns always intended)

We had a very successful and joyful Family Fun Harvest Day! The atmosphere was vibrant, and families came together to celebrate the season and enjoy a range of activities. The day was filled with laughter, smiles, and the delightful aroma of fresh apples being pressed.

Right up until ten PM the night before the event our unpaid volunteers worked hard preparing (brilliantly) the former playgroup end for the event, its the first time the team had used this area, so equipment had to be sourced, we fortunately got a lot of equipment from a council school that was closing, enabling us to have equipment to place out for trial, this looks great and worked so well, we have left it out this way

Children and parents alike participated in the apple pressing, and it was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying the process. The baking contest also added a competitive yet friendly spirit to the day, with delicious treats shared among all participants. FEL provided food for lunch. from the cafe at BaileyFields which was absolutely amazing and well received by all, free lunch from FEL free teas, and coffees from PCH and free apple juice aplenty from the BFG`s, everyone loved it

Community engagement shone through with the various displays and activities, from crafting to gardening ideas. It was great to witness so many new faces joining our community and sharing in our visions of permaculture and sustainability. The area where we displayed our garden plans for consultation from the community was a large wall where people could write in their ideas for the garden in a creative way. We got offers of help with our planning and actions, new volunteers that share our permaculture dreams of sustainable farming, this area got an amzing amount of community engagement with knowledge sharing exchanges

Craig's Corner was holding a craft fair at our big hall end of the hub, this worked out perfectly on the day, with at least one couple attending the craft fair, who did not know Apple Day was on, but now wish to join our community

we had borrowed Grangemouth library's seed library to have on display, with some of our seed gathering on display. There were good discussions about this - literally planting seeds of how we could grow our own, which we hope to have ready for our planned spring event

Despite the challenges posed by the weather, (storm Amy) the event turned out to be a wonderful success, and we look forward to planning even more family-friendly celebrations in the future! Thank you to everyone who participated and made this day so special!
